-the things written in this book are
not of the world nor do they have any earthly value (earthly value has no true
worth anyway). Rather, they are
priceless in the eyes of those concerned
with things beyond this world. Anyone
who only reads the Book of Mormon for its history or cultural component is as
foolish as the one who keeps the dross and discards the gold. In fact, such a one could fall under
condemnation for not following the commandment given here by Nephi: “If Nephi writes for the whole purpose of
persuading men to come to God, then surely our whole intent for reading it is
that we may come to God -which thing is
of the greatest worth.”
