“thus far I and my father had kept the
commandments.”
-this is
a completely accurate declaration! Up to
this point only Nephi and Lehi had stood 100% obedient to the Lord, everyone
else had failed to some degree or another.
This time (the events in the wilderness) was a period of testing,
proving and teaching. We are all dealt
with in a like manner -in short, this is
life. We come up against obstacles or
the Lord requires some thing from us and by our response we prove or disprove
the degree of our discipleship. Like
this group, the majority of us fall far short of the ideal, but like this
group, we are given opportunity after opportunity to improve and to grow.
