-We are
not expected to get through this life without guidance. We are not sent out into the wilderness of
mortality alone. We are given help, plenty of it. Even Lehi was directed but the only thing
those assigned as “helpers” can do to assist us is “bade (us to) follow him.” This
type of tutor is a pattern in the scriptures.
Very similar personages were sent to Daniel, Joseph Smith and others.
Invitations to “follow” recognize the existence of agency but provide an
opportunity for action. That has always been the Savior’s invitation.
