"to prepare the way of the
Lord"
-What
does this mean? What needed
prepared? How did John accomplish this? What would have been different if there was
no John the Baptist whose preaching came before Jesus? What impact did John have on the people, on
attitudes and actions?
-where
did John receive his training for his mission?
How did he know what his purpose was?
He was the first convert to Christianity. His testimony that Jesus was the Messiah
preceeded that of Peter or any of the apostles.
He was literally a man before his time.
He was the first missionary of the meridian of time. He was also the
first Christian martyr.
-is there a significant
difference in what John did if the word “for” was used in place of the word
“of”?
