1 Nephi 2:3

3  And it came to pass that he was aobedient unto the word of the Lord, wherefore he did as the Lord commanded him.
-what effect did Lehi’s willing obedience have on his son Nephi?  This simple act  -no publicity, no fanfare, no dramatics- was as heroic an act as anything that other great Book of Mormon or Biblical figures could have done to positively effect the course of history.  Nephi saw his dad quietly do what the Lord asked.  Is it any surprise that Nephi later becomes the personification of obedience?  It didn’t happened by accident, it was modeled for him.  Never underestimate the power of a father’s quiet obedience.
