1 Nephi 11:17

17  And I said unto him: I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things.
-here is a glimpse of the Nephi under construction.  He is developing and growing just as we are.  To admit that we do not have all the answers is not a character flaw.  Instead  it is a key that unlocks learning.

“I know that he loveth his children”
-how did Nephi come to know this truth?  If we really know this deep in our souls, it is a motivation and provides the parameters by which we live our lives.  It does not mean that we know everything but it is a fundamental building block upon which we can construct our value system, our life’s objective, our self-concept, our faith, our relationship to (and how we treat) others.  Do we have an abiding belief or knowledge that God loves His children?

“I do not know the meaning of all things.”
-who does?  God is the only one with this quantity of knowledge.  So where should we go to learn?  To the source of meaning and knowledge.  God’s school is called mortality and its primary teaching tools are the scriptures, prayer, inspiration and experience.
